  1. Splash your face with warm water
  2. Apply a small amount of cleanser to your fingertips  and gently apply to your face using upward strokes (you don’t want to  drag your skin downwards – gravity does it enough already!)
  3. Massage your skin in a light circular motion for a few seconds
  4. Using warm water, rinse your face of all traces of cleanser
  5. Gently pat your face dry
  6. Optional: apply one of Moon Haven’s Facial Mists.
  7. Follow with your moon haven moisturiser of choice.

THE HERBAL CLEANSING GEL WITH BERGAMOT STORY

So many visitors to the moon haven cottage come to us to help them deal with problem skin. Acne both in puberty and adult onset are so very common and we see at least one case every day. The first thing we  tell our clients is "ditch the foaming facial wash!"

Now this may seem counter intuitive -let me explain. You see, many people mistakenly believe that oil is the enemy when dealing with breakout and unbalanced skin. Detergent based foaming facial washes are designed to strip away every last bit of natural oil and sebum from your skin. 

This leaves your skin squeaky clean, though tight and dehydrated.  Of course your skin reacts by producing more oil to replace what it is missing. You strip the oils away and the cycle continues. Moon Haven's Cleansing Gel has been carefully formulated to allow the skin to find its own natural balance, to leave just enough oil on the skin to avoid the stripping/replenishing cycle. Combined with our herbal moisturisers managing acne and unbalanced skin is an easy fix.

The beautifully light citrus oil blend we use in this wonderful  moisturiser contains deliciously decadent Bergamot essential oil with a  little lemongrass and a luxurious hint of Ylang Ylang. (We loved this  scent blend so much that the blend is available - we called it Inner Peace

At Moon Haven we use a lovely non-photoxic Bergamot essential oil  from Italy.  Bergamot is a delightful essential oil that has  anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties as well as being useful in  balancing oily skin.
