‘What are the most practical things I can make with the Defence Essential Oil Trio?’
So we’ve gathered our top six go-to DIYs — the ones we actually use around our own homes each and every week.
Wooden cutting boards can harbor bacteria in their grooves and pores.
This simple cleaner helps sanitise while preserving the wood.
You'll need:
60ml white vinegar
3 drops Tea Tree essential oil
Small spray bottle
Directions:
Combine vinegar and Tea Tree oil in the spray bottle
After washing your cutting board with soap and water, spray the mixture over the surface
Let sit for 5-10 minutes, then wipe with a clean cloth
No need to rinse—the vinegar smell dissipates as it dries

This little trick has saved me from mysterious refrigerator odors more times than I can count.
You'll need:
125g baking soda
5 drops Thieves essential oil blend
Small glass jar with lid (punch holes in the lid)
Directions:
Add baking soda to the jar
Drop essential oils onto the baking soda
Stir with a wooden skewer or spoon
Cover with the punctured lid
Place in the back of your refrigerator
Replace every 1-2 months or when scent fades
This powder is brilliant for homes with pets or active families.
The bicarbonate of soda absorbs odors while the oils add protection.
You'll need:
250g bicarbonate of soda
10 drops Spike Lavender essential oil
Glass jar with shaker lid (or holes punched into the lid)
Directions:
Add bicarbonate of soda to the jar
Mix in the essential oils
Seal and shake well, then let sit for 24 hours to allow oils to infuse
Sprinkle lightly on carpets and rugs
Let sit for 15-30 minutes, then vacuum thoroughly
Between us: This works wonderfully on mattresses too! Just sprinkle, let sit for an hour, then vacuum thoroughly for a fresher sleeping surface.

This simple cleaner helps sanitize without damaging your electronics.
You'll need:
60ml isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher)
60ml distilled water
5 drops Tea Tree essential oil
5 drops of our Essential Oil Solubiliser
Small spray bottle
Microfiber cloth
Directions:
Mix the Tea Tree oil with the solubiliser first
Add this mixture to the spray bottle with the alcohol and water
Shake well to combine
Important: Spray onto the cloth, not directly onto electronics and remember - a little goes a long, long way!
Gently wipe screens, keyboards, phones, and remote controls
Allow to air dry

This is such a simple way to infuse your laundry with subtle protection.
You'll need:
Wool dryer balls
2-3 drops Spike Lavender essential oil per dryer ball
Directions:
Add essential oils to your wool dryer balls
Let oils absorb for 5-10 minutes before use
Toss in the dryer with your wet laundry
Enjoy naturally scented, static-free laundry!
Tip: Different oils for different loads! Use Spike Lavender for bedding, Tea Tree for gym clothes, and Thieves for towels and linens.
Having raised active boys, this one saved my sanity (and my nose) many times over.
You'll need:
125g baking soda
60g cornstarch
8 drops Thieves essential oil blend
Container with an air tight lid (an old glass jar works well)
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl
Transfer to your container and tightly close the lid
Sprinkle lightly inside shoes after wearing
Let sit overnight, then tap out excess in the morning
Bonus tip: For extra-smelly sports shoes, add 2 drops of Tea Tree essential oil to the mixture for additional antibacterial power.
Pop a label on your blends with the name and date — it keeps things clear and helps you remake the ones you love.
Mix up your favourite recipes in advance so they’re ready to use when you need them most.
To keep your formulas fresh and effective for longer, store them out of direct sunlight and away from heat.
