Traditionally the herb Calendula (calendula officinalis) has been used to soothe distressed skin, calm scar tissue, and heal wounds. From newborn to frail aged, face to intimate areas - Calendula is really a wonder herb.

We always recommend Calendula Salve to the new mother as it is fantastic for helping with nappy rash, stretch marks, sore nipples and even episiotomy scars.

This gentling salve is also great for those very dry flaky areas on your face. Safe enough to use even on eyelids, it will help reduce the redness and irritation often associated with eczema and rosacea

  • Apply a small amount to the affected area.
  • Do not overburden your skin with salve, a little goes a long, long way.
  • Apply enough so that the salve is completely absorbed within 10 minutes. This way you are not overburdening the skin.

THE CALENDULA SALVE STORY

When you visit moon haven you'll often see a large jar of golden calendula infused oil in our cottage window. We love to put our oil infusions in the window as it catches the afternoon sun. You see the warmth and light helps the calendula release its goodness into the oil.

We love harnessing the anti-inflammatory, healing and soothing properties of golden calendula petals to make this salve.

We made this sale to help mothers and babes through those first few months of breast feeding, nappy rash and stretch marks.  Its also great help for those suffering from rosacea and sensitised skin, chaffing and rashes.

At the Moon Haven cottage we infuse dried calendula petals in pure sunflower oil for several weeks. We then combine the calendula oil with olive oil and local beeswax to make this wonderful skin soothing salve.

BORN OF NECESSITY

Moon haven cream in a jar

I put this cream on my baby for everything from a little red toshie to dry skin and even little cuts or grazes. The best thing of all is a little goes a long way. Highly recommend even brought the baby pack that this cream comes in for my sister in law.
