Ingredients

Vetiver deep, smoky scent is wonderfully grounding and helpful at times of grief, stress and sleeplessness.
Vetiver essential oil is derived from the complex white root system of a grass used in India and Sri Lanka for the creation of woven matting.

Vetiver has been known to assist with:

  • dealing with stress

  • at times of grief

  • calming emotions

  • insomnia and sleeplessness

  • relaxation

Note: If vetiver is too thick to pour - dip a toothpick into the bottle to get the desired amount of oil

  • Excellent for helping to stabilise emotions and relaxing at times of stress

Vetiver Pure Essential Oil blends well with: All the citrus, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Frankincense, Ginger, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Lemongrass, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Spikenard, Vanilla, and Ylang Ylang

Helps to dispel negativity, anger and irritability. It is also helpful for releasing grief and calming panic. It truly is the oil of tranquility.

  • Diffuse: Add 5 to 10 drops to your chosen essential oil or blend to the diffuser or oil burner. Experiment with different combinations of oils and blends.  Don't forget to write each blend into a dedicated notebook along with your feedback. That way you'll get to know which blends are the most effective for you.
  • Bath: Do not add undiluted essential oils to your bathwater. Oil and water do not mix. Instead mix 3 to 5 drops of your chosen essential oils or blends  with a drop of shampoo/ detergent or in 20 ml (1 tablespoon) of full cream milk. Add this emulsion to the bathwater and slip in. The essential oils emulsifies in shampoo / detergent / milk and so distributes them more evenly throughout the bathwater.
  • Warm Compress: Place 1 drop of essential oil into a small bowl of warm water. Soak a washcloth in the water and wring out well. Place the washcloth over the face with eyes closed and relax, Repeat as needed. Do not exceed 1 drop of essential oil and use with caution when using strong essential oils and blends like Moon Haven's Clove, Cinnamon, Thieves Essential oils and blends.
  • Steam Shower Inhalation: Enjoy an aromatherapy shower by placing 3 to 5 drops of your choice of essential oils and /or blends on a washcloth on the floor of your shower. Turn off the fan and enjoy the essential oil laden steam while you shower. (Note: Do not place essential oils directly onto the shower tiles as the oils may break down the tile glaze)
  • Massage Oil: Create your own massage medium oil or cream. Use Moon Haven's Essential Oil Dilutions Chart to calculate the correct number of essential oil drops to add to your chosen carrier oil or massage cream. enjoy!
  • Direct Inhalation: Sometimes we just need a quick pick me up and that can mean just opening up your favourite essential oil or blend and taking a quick whiff. Alternatively, if you find the scent from an open bottle a little too strong for you, just smell the bottle cap. The result will be a gentler, more subtle fragrance.

THE VETIVER ESSENTIAL OIL STORY

I love vetiver.  It's soft, smoky, resinous scent is so calming and grounding that I will often just open up my bottle of essential oil in the midst of the busyness of moon haven and take a slow, deep breath.

The effect is almost instantaneous, a deep sense of calm and groundedness overtakes me. My heartbeat starts to slow and I am reminded of the cool, damp earth and my connectedness with it.

I use vetiver for all of these reasons and more.  It helps to dispel negativity, anger and irritability. It is also helpful for releasing grief and calming panic. It truly is the oil of tranquility.

For skin it is fantastic for helping with stretch marks and wound healing. It promotes hormonal balance and skin moisturisation.

The oil is steam distilled from the dried roots of the vetiver plant which is grown in Indonesia and India. Over the two year growing season the roots of this grass-like perennial can grow to 2.5 metres in length!

The base note of vetiver can be overpowering so I tend to only use it in relatively small proportions.

for example a lovely calming blend for the home is:

1 drop vetiver
4 drops sweet orange
2 drops Clary sage
2 drops lavender

The soft smokiness of the vetiver will ground this blend and carry it throughout the day... allowing the scent to linger longer in the air.

Vetiver

I have only used it once because the oil won't drop out and I had to remove the 'plug' then I had it all over my fingers. How do I get the oil to drip out without making a mess?

Hi Tricia - Vetiver is quite resinous and can - according to temperature and age- can be too thick to be able to use the inbuilt oil dripolator.
When this happens just remove the dripolator plug (as you have done) and use a toothpick to remove the required amount of vetiver for your formulation.

Hint: Vetiver is an extremely strong scent so a very little will go a long way.

For example: just a hint of oil on a toothpick will usually suit most diffusing situations
