Based on the ultimate feminine booster, Clary Sage Essential Oil, Prelude blend was initially formulated for use during labour. (It is included in our Labour of Love Birthing Kit).

During labour
It was formulated to help soothe excited nerves and instill a sense of  patience and resolve as the soon-to-be mum enters the initial stages of labour.

Can be helpful at times of hormonal change
Yet so many of our moonies have chosen to use this oil blend to help them with hormone and emotional regulation, especially at times of hormonal stress and change (read puberty and menopause)

The resultant birth blends are:

  • Prelude for the first stages and after the birth
  • In the Moment for the later stages of labour and the actual birth

Based on uplifting Mandarin both blends are delightful on their own  but come into their own when they are combined.   As Prelude tapers off  and In the Moment takes over the scents released are quite amazing.          

We have had wonderful feedback from our testers I look forward to  welcoming our new mums and their lovely babes into Moon Haven and  listening to their birth stories.  I will keep you all posted.

  • Recommended for all women including soonto-be mothers

  • Diffuse: Add 5 to 10 drops to your chosen essential oil or blend to the diffuser or oil burner. Experiment with different combinations of oils and blends.  Don't forget to write each blend into a dedicated notebook along with your feedback. That way you'll get to know which blends are the most effective for you.
  • Bath: Do not add undiluted essential oils to your bathwater. Oil and water do not mix. Instead mix 3 to 5 drops of your chosen essential oils or blends  with a drop of shampoo/ detergent or in 20 ml (1 tablespoon) of full cream milk. Add this emulsion to the bathwater and slip in. The essential oils emulsifies in shampoo / detergent / milk and so distributes them more evenly throughout the bathwater.
  • Warm Compress: Place 1 drop of essential oil into a small bowl of warm water. Soak a washcloth in the water and wring out well. Place the washcloth over the face with eyes closed and relax, Repeat as needed. Do not exceed 1 drop of essential oil and use with caution when using strong essential oils and blends like Moon Haven's Clove, Cinnamon, Thieves Essential oils and blends.
  • Steam Shower Inhalation: Enjoy an aromatherapy shower by placing 3 to 5 drops of your choice of essential oils and /or blends on a washcloth on the floor of your shower. Turn off the fan and enjoy the essential oil laden steam while you shower. (Note: Do not place essential oils directly onto the shower tiles as the oils may break down the tile glaze)
  • Massage Oil: Create your own massage medium oil or cream. Use Moon Haven's Essential Oil Dilutions Chart to calculate the correct number of essential oil drops to add to your chosen carrier oil or massage cream. enjoy!
  • Direct Inhalation: Sometimes we just need a quick pick me up and that can mean just opening up your favourite essential oil or blend and taking a quick whiff. Alternatively, if you find the scent from an open bottle a little too strong for you, just smell the bottle cap. The result will be a gentler, more subtle fragrance.

THE BIRTH BLENDS - PRELUDE STORY

Initially formulated as a birthing blend

In the early 2000's Natalie Burgess of baby massage fame - asked us to put together a birthing kit for her soon-to -be mothers. We loved the challenge.
And so - our Labour of Love Birth Kit was born.

As a part of the kit, we created 2 beautiful essential oil blends for use before, during and after birth.

Both blends proved popular with our many of our wonderful moonies - not just our labouring mums. 

Now used for classrooms, workplaces and labour!

They found that Prelude Blend was wonderful for:

  • helping to settle rampant hormones at time of change - menopause, puberty post birth
  • soothing frayed nerves 
  • assisted with anxious feelings
  • of course it certainly was so useful when our soon to be parents went into labour.
