Coles & Woolworths Ban Microbeads
So they’re finally banning microbeads in the products they put on their shelves!
About time Coles and Woolies…
But what about the big brand cosmetic companies like Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal, Nutrogena and even The Body Shop etc?
They’re still making products with these wildlife killing particles in them .. and while looking for alternatives may not make the change to less damaging solutions until the end of 2017!!!
Big Brand Companies Should Be Proactive Not Reactive
Isn’t it time theses huge companies were proactive and not just reactive..waiting until public and scientific opinion force them to change their ways?
There is just no need to use polluting, wildlife-killing plastic microbeads in skin care products.
Jojoba Beads -A Safe, Natural Alternative
There are safe, natural alternatives available … but of course they cost more!
For the record at Moon Haven we use gorgeous, natural and totally biodegradable jojoba oil beads as our exfoliant in our Moisturising Facail Scrub with Australian Clays.
They’re beautiful spherical, skin friendly, nutrient rich balls of wax that gently exfoliate your skin… the right way.
We’re not perfect…but we do work at being the best we can be
Admittedly in the early days of Moon Haven we used the polyethylene micro beads (we didn’t want to use harsh irregular shaped exfoliants like almond kernels or walnut shells) but we switched over to jojpba beads as soon as we understood the issues that microbeads were creating.
We know we’re not perfect…but we consciously strive to formulate the very best products for our clients.
So when we find out something is not ethical, effective or best practice we’ll make the changes as fast as we possible can.
