Today I want to share with you the 2 essential steps to avoiding dreaded dry skin and maintaining great skin throughout winter.
Winter weather can take its toll on your skin.
Cold, blustery winds, bone chilling freezing temperatures interspersed with low humidity climate controlled warmth as we move inside – our skin has to be able to take it all. And in winter it can come out the worse for wear.
So winter is an ideal time to take a little extra care of our skin… give it a bit more pampering than usual.
Dry Skin = Dull, Lifeless Skin
Paradoxically our skin tends to dry out during the winter months. You see in Australia, during winter the humidity in the air can drop quite dramatically. We also spend more time indoors in “temperature controlled” environments. All this means that any moisture produced by the skin is rapidly evaporated. This means natural lipids (oils ) produced by the skin can tend to dry and clog pores.
All this can lead to dull, lifeless looking skin (and for those with eczema or psoriasis – itchy, broken and distressed skin).
The 2 Essential Steps to Great Winter Skin
With just 2 simple steps you can change the appearance and feel of your winter ravaged skin.
Gentle exfoliation helps to unplug pores, remove the lose flakes of skin which cause your skin to appear dull and lifeless.
Note the use of the word “gentle”. While a product may be called a scrub or polish, the application of these products are meant to be light and gentle. Harshly scrubbing your skin leaves your skin deeply damaged and denuded of protective cells.
So the mantra is to apply these products as if you are putting the product on a baby!

To help keep your skin glowing and healthy you need to moisturise it regularly. This is even more important in winter when humidity and climatic conditions are harsh.
So after you have gently polished your skin (do this in the shower…it’s the easiest way) dry off and immediately spread a thin layer of your moisturiser of choice.
