Eric’s in the wars…again!

Eric, moon haven’s intrepid soapmaker and cofounder ,has a way of drawing attention to himself. We were trying to achieve two quiet weeks of relaxation.

Well there Eric and I were, enjoying the relaxing environment, friendly people and skin loving  humidity of pre-wet season Bali when we decided that a visit to Lembongan Island was in order.  So with our friends Dale & Craig ,we caught the Fast boat to the island… enjoyed a day of snorkeling amongst some of the most colourful fish and corals we have ever seen. Next day we arranged to hire scooters and travel around the island swimming in the various bays…. it so happens that this is not the best idea.

To make a very long story (should i say saga) short… Eric and bike parted company half way around the island…. with Eric landing heavily…so… after being bundled into the back of a ute and driven across the centre of the island by some very concerned villagers, being stitched up in the wonderful but basic clinic on Lembongan Island ,,, scooted across the 15 kms of very deep ocean and swell back to Sanur in Bali, Eric was finally transported to BIMC hospital where he received some of the most advanced and comprehensive care available.

With a fractured collarbone (clavicle), several broken ribs, a broken toe, extensive bruising and with a fair amount of grazes and skin missing I was impressed that he continues to be in as good a spirits as he is.

With our wonderful insurance company Mondial Assistance in charge, Eric and I were flown home early Sunday morning and ensconced in St John of God Hospital Murdoch for a few day.  We arrived back in Busselton late Wednesday night, to our own bed, some heavy duty pain killers, two fearsomely affection cats and one very excited dog.

Now comes the recovery period – some 3 months apparently.

It looks like Chris and the team will be very busy taking up the soapmaking and all the extra duties!
