Easter @ Moon Haven

It’s Easter at Moon haven and we have been so busy…its been fun! This year Eric and I, with the help of our fantastic juniors Ash and Hol, have looked after Moon Haven all by ourselves – and we have loved every second of it.

Easter is a very special time here as we get to see people who come down south every year for this 4 day break. For many of them a visit to Moon Haven is one of the highlights of their stay. We get to catch up with many of our regular mail order customers who drop in for their annual visit…it is just so lovely to be able to put faces to names we regularly see online.

Eric and I also love Easter because we get to “play” in the shop. I write the word “play” quite deliberately because that is just what it feels like – there is no work involved. It is just like we are having an extended open house and all of our friends old and new are visiting.

Eric is having a lovely time talking to people and helping them discover what we do,,, I am equally involved in rubbing Achy Breaky on necks unused to accomodation pillows, sore lower backs from driving long distances and knees unused to climbing the 300 odd steps in the local caves as well as giving mini readings using Anjie Camen’s Solaz cards.

Eric and I working together like this in the cottage takes us back to the early days of Moon Haven when it was just the two of us. It reminds us and reinforces exactly why Moon Haven exists. And as corny as it may sound we love being there for everyone who walks through our cottage doors.

We just hope they enjoy the experience as much as we do.

Update on Scotty Dog

Scotty with EricWell I am amazed that we still have my constant companion Scotty dog with us.

Last October I wrote that he had been diagnosed with moderate case of heart failure and was put onto diuretics and other medication to help him keep on keeping on.

When first diagnosed the vet painted a very grim picture and predicted that Scotty would be doing well to last another month or two. So we girded our loins for the inevitable making sure that Scotty had everything he wanted.

Although he has had several ups and downs over the past few months Scotty has continued to wag his tail and show his dedication and excitement to see us …even if we have only left the house for 10 minutes.

Last week Scot dog woke from his nightly slumber with an extremely weak back end. While his front paws had all their normal strength his back legs were having a hard time bearing his weight to the point where he was falling over at the merest quiver.

Uh oh, we thought, this it IT. Yet once again our amazing little dog has astounded us all. Each day his legs get a little stronger, he continues to show his enthusiasm for coming to Moon Haven and still greets all his visitors (of course they are his visitors who have come to meet him personally…there could be no other reason!) at the door.

While he can’t jump into the car at the moment and needs to be lifted in, and he runs with a funny gait, it looks like Scotty will yet again be with us a little while longer. We are very fortunate people to have such a dedicated little soul as a companion.
